Loansome Doc is a service offered by the National Library of Medicine that allows registered users to submit document delivery requests directly from MEDLINE searches run on PubMed* to a particular "ordering library."  Users also have the ability to update account information and check the status of submitted requests.

Users at primate research programs supported by the National Center for Research Resources can register with the WPRC Library as their "ordering library" and have all document requests originating in PubMed searches submitted directly to the library, bypassing the need to re-enter citations in the NPRC Document Delivery online form.

Registration

Eligible users must register first register for Jacobsen Library's ILLiad system. Follow the instructions at http://library.primate.wisc.edu/services/illiad_reg.html.

After registering for ILLiad, Loansome Doc registration can be completed.

Submitting Requests via Loansome Doc

On PubMed: When viewing the list of citations which matched your search, complete the following steps.

  1.  Select the documents you wish to request by checking the box to the left of the citation number.
  2. Click SEND TO > ORDER in the search results "toolbar."
    OR...
Click ADD TO CLIPBOARD to store citations temporarily and then run another search.  Stored citations can be accessed by clicking CLIPBOARD and then requested by clicking SEND TO > ORDER.
  3. Enter your User ID and Password in the login page and click GO.
  4. Read and ACCEPT the copyright warning.
  5. Verify the information on the following page and click SEND ORDER.  You may indicate a "not needed after" date and/or edit information for this particular order, if appropriate.

All requests submitted from either search method will be sent directly to the WPRC Library via DOCLINE, the NLM's automated interlibrary loan service.  Documents will then be provided in the same manner as all other requests submitted to the library.
